Never tell me
I think that I have fallen in love with Miniature Daschunds. My hairdresser has a little puppy and he is beyond cute. My dog family could be an interesting mix: Staffies and Mini Daschunds. Interesting.

Plotting for Dangerous Knowledge continues. I know how it ends!

Crazy people by crystal_lily
This is my week of clearing the dust bunnies from the back of the settee or something. Here is another long neglected offering, a fic which I've been writing on and off for like three years or something. It's my first X Files fic, but as X Files is my first fandom love, I wanted to enjoy the process - I did. Anyway, here it is:

Disclaimer: Funnily enough, I am not Joss Whedon. Damn it!
Summary: A photograph is sometimes too painful to see. Mid-Season One, Angel.

New Buffy Fic - "There's No Place..."

  • Oct. 7th, 2008 at 9:49 PM
B/A not always broken
Okay, so here it is, my first fic, I think, in two years. This has been WIP-py for said two years. So with trepidation, I introduce...

Title: There's No Place...
Author: Wendy.
Email: starrycynic@aim.com.
Disclaimer: BtVs and Angel are the creation of Joss Whedon.
Summary: A life after Sunnydale awaits Buffy. Set post-Chosen.
Rating: PG-13ish, I would say. I don't think you'll blush.
Spoilers: All seven seasons of Buffy (just to be safe) and early Season 5 of Angel.

AN: "There's No Place" is part of the What If... series, a group of loosely related stories exploring an alternative reality of "Angel" Season 5 involving Buffy. Currently you can find them on my LJ here. Or try this if you can't get the page:

http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=fb2wendy&keyword=What+If...+series&filter=all

I am without a website cos it's too much like hard work these days.

Thanks: A huge, big, massive, ecstatic thank you to the lovely [info]chloe_sarai who agreed to read this before I let it out into the big wide world and gave me really detailed and honest feedback. She rocks, truly. And knows who Robbie Williams is, despite being American (he's fairly obscure to American folks, so I hear) - see, she's fantastic.

Mulder broken by reverie81

Today in 1993, The X-Files first premiered. What's your favorite episode? Have you ever experienced paranormal activity yourself?

View 500 Answers

One Breath - hands down. I love it. Such a mix of action, emotion, family, love, suspense and beautiful metaphysical exploration. Mulder breaking down silently after he discovers his trashed apartment is one of the strong, carthartic moments of this episode that make me adore Mulder and his vulnerability, and further reveal his deep feelings for Scully. This ep is an absolute classic.

And yes, I have experienced paranormal activity. A fair, fair bit. As long as I know it's friendly, it bothers me a lot less than it used to. I am not so terrified now!

Request:

- Faith & Spike (friendship or more); Future fic (near or far as long as Spike survives the battle or was never in it to begin with); Faith and Spike taking up a difficult task to prove their worth, with one or both revealing a painful secret from their past; No Andrew or Buffy/Spike.

AN2: ** indicates a line from Graduation Day I, BtVS, Season 3.

AN2: Warning for bad language in this chapter.

AN3: Just a few notes to help explain things referred to in this chapter:

1. Damien Hirst is a very famous British artist, based in London. According to Damienhirst, an unofficial fansite: “Damien Hirst is an influential young British artist whose works are known for their controversial subject matter. He won the Turner Prize in 1995 and continues to shock, entertain, and educate. Hirst works with a variety of media, but is probably best known for his series involving animals preserved in formaldehyde.”

2. Cornwall – is an English county to the south of Devon. Cornish people are very proud of their heritage; there is a long-running campaign for independence for Cornwall from the rest of England.

(On an aside, a British TV network has announced that for its alternative to the Queen’s speech this Christmas, it is going to show a Simpson’s episode where Lisa will be campaigning for independence for Cornwall. I thought that was pretty cute. *G*)

3. Cornish Pasties – pastry filled with beef and onion. It’s a very famous produce of Cornwall.

4. Pint – read beer.

5. Haytor Rocks is an ancient site containing a number of granite rocks, situated on Dartmoor – a huge moor in South Devon, S.W England. There are photos here for those who are curious:
